I’m Natalie, or Berrypatchpainting - a name which finds its roots in my childhood, growing up in rural western New York. My mother, not much older than I am now, built a small painting workshop in the front lawn of our family home and called it the 'Berry Patch'. There, she held painting classes for a tight knit group of friends for the duration of my childhood. While there's no longer a little blue workshop out front, she's still introducing people to the joy of painting today, in one way or another.

I came to discover a love of painting later on in life, when a hobby picked up during the pandemic blossomed into an increasingly prominent part of my life. Art has become a way I notice, experience, and appreciate the world around me and the slow turn of its seasons.

Berrypatchpainting is now the fruit of this practice, which I'd like to share with you.

All of my products are hand-illustrated and reflect some of my own natural and seasonal observations, often beginning in the pages of my sketchbooks. I use a range of materials, from ink to watercolour, gouache and acrylic paint, coloured pencils and pastels, as well as some digital tools.

I document my artistic and seasonal journey over on Substack and invite you to follow along! I send out a seasonal newsletter every fortnight, full of my observations and art news.
